Getting started

Import trades from a CSV

Bring a broker statement or export into your journal in a few clicks — MetaTrader statements included.

Trades are imported into the account selected in the account switcher, so pick the right account first.

Choose the file

Go to Trading History and click Import CSV (or the import icon in the toolbar). Drop a file or click to choose one.

  • Accepted files: .csv, .txt, .tsv, up to 8 MB.
  • The separator (comma, semicolon, tab or pipe) is detected automatically.
  • Header rows are found even when the file starts with a few lines of account details, as MetaTrader statements do.

Check the columns

Fips maps columns by their names and shows the result in the Columns grid. You can change any mapping by hand.

Required: Symbol, Direction, Volume, Open time, Close time, Open price, Close price, and a Profit or Net profit column.

Optional: Ticket, Commission, Swap, Stop loss, Take profit.

Direction can be written as buy/sell, long/short, b/s, or 0/1 — order types like buy limit work too.

Dates and time zone

  • Year-first, day-first and month-first dates are all read. If the file never shows a day above 12, Fips asks whether it is Day first or Month first.
  • Set Broker time offset to your broker's server time. Most MetaTrader servers run at UTC+2 or UTC+3. Your choice is remembered on this device.

Preview and import

The preview lists every trade and every skipped row with its line number and reason. Click Import to finish.

Importing the same file again

  • A trade that is already in your journal is updated, but your notes, tags, screenshots, folder and rating are kept.
  • Files without a ticket column get a stable ID per trade, so re-importing does not create duplicates.
  • Up to 5,000 trades can be imported at once.
